There always seems to be a World Something-or-other Day, and today is World Gratitude Day. Even though I think every day is a good day to be grateful, it’s nice to have a day to especially focus on what I’m grateful for!
It’s easy to list things I’m grateful for today – I’ve just been blessed to have spent a weekend with some wonderful girlfriends in the country, having good chats, consuming delicious food and drink (caramel apple martini – oh my!), taking photos and just laughing lots. Reconnecting with dear people you haven’t seen in a while can be so nourishing. I also loved being out of the city, driving fast on long roads, with that big sky of country NSW and the calming green landscape rolling out all around us. I also got to bond with Jess’s little parrot, Percy, who let me scratch his head and made me giggle with delight. I’m so glad I could have that couple of days of recharging. I am especially grateful for Jess G, Anna C and Jess K and that we are sisters in Christ.
Do you ever let people know you’re grateful for them? As it’s World Gratitude Day, today we could take the opportunity to level up in our gratitude practice. What do you reckon?
By now you know that writing down the things you’re grateful for is a big part of practising gratitude, as it primes your brain to look for the things you can be grateful for. Gratitude leads to more gratitude! Did you know that another very useful tool in your gratitude kit that will help boost happiness is to express gratitude directly to the person who has inspired your gratitude?
This video from Soul Pancake shows you just how easy it is, and might give you a bit of inspiration to express that gratitude to someone who has made an impact on your life. It doesn’t take much, just a bit of thought and time. Today is as good a day as any to send them a message, write them a note, give them a phone call. I guarantee you will increase the joy in your heart and in theirs!
So on World Gratitude Day, what are you grateful for? Did you contact anyone to let them know you are grateful for them? Let us know how it went in the comments!
